It’s funny how a woman’s definition of beauty can change once they become a mom. I’m sure we’ve all seen the photo of Taryn Brumfitt and her “before” pic of herself in a bikini, competing in a bodybuilding competition – and that was after having 3 kids! Fast forward a few years later, strict diet abandoned, and you’ll see Taryn’s “after” pic. A photo of a still-gorgeous woman, with just a few more rolls than she had before. Looking a bit more “real”.
I’ve been struggling with weight issues pretty much my whole life. I’ve been fat, skinny, and a little bit of in-between through the years and, honestly, have never been happy with the way I looked. Can you imagine? How sad is that? Never, ever satisfied with my body. Ever. Ugh.
I have always been a fan at how Dove mirrors address women’s body image issues though. Seeing women on a billboard whose bodies looked a whole lot closer to mine than the size 0 supermodels in other campaigns was refreshing. Imagine that? Women of all sizes , in a major marketing campaign, looking absolutely stunning. Genius.
Dove has now partnered with Walgreens, and has reaffirmed their commitment to building positive self-esteem and inspiring women to reach their full potential, acknowledging that beauty is defined in different ways.
Now, through May 31st, if you purchase 2 participating Dove products at Walgreens, you’ll receive a promo code printed right on your receipt to redeem a Free 8×10 collage print! You can create your photo right on Walgreens Facebook page too. (Offer valid with Balance Rewards card 4/27/14–5/31/14.)

Ultimately, I don’t think the issue of women being unhappy in their skin will ever go away completely, but I will continue to stand behind companies that make it their mission to start to make that mind shift. And I always feel beautiful when I use Dove.
