The new package — good for stays most nights April 27 through June 15 and Aug. 15 through Sept. 30, 2014 — is a great way for parents or grandparents to experience Disney Parks, too, especially when bringing along a young park-goer taking in all the magic, possibly for the first time.

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios—Disney Junior-Live on Stage! and Toy Story Midway Mania! are the perfect fit for younger children.

At the resort hotels

With themed pools, walking paths and complimentary activities such as Movies Under the Stars, resort hotels provide a great retreat for a relaxing break or even a little one’s afternoon nap during a day of fun in the Disney theme parks. And when parents need a night out, Children’s Activity Centers provide supervised childcare for children ages 3-12 years at five convenient Walt Disney World Resort hotel locations. Centers include arts & crafts, video and board games, Disney movies, dinner and activities.

At Disney restaurants

Disney Restaurants offer children’s menus, plus crayons and coloring books to keep kids entertained. Character dining—where a cast of characters visit guests’ tables while they eat—is a great way to introduce little ones to Disney characters.

3 Easy Ways to Save Money at the Grocery Store

We’re just one month into the New Year and I’m determined to stick to my goal of saving money however I can.  It’s tough trying to pinch pennies with a family of five!  Something unexpected always comes up, and it’s usually not something you can put off until the next paycheck comes in.  A medical co-pay, or a school fee, or a tank of gas for the car.  It’s always something!  Recently I created a budget for myself, and have done surprisingly well with it, but I there’s always more I can do to save a few bucks.  My ultimate goal is to save enough to travel a few times a year – one of my absolute favorite things to do.

Follow these 3 Easy Ways to Save Money at the Grocery Store to have hundreds each year via thoughtsfromher.com.

Follow these 3 easy ways to save money at the grocery store to save hundreds of dollars each year!  Lately I’ve been studying my grocery spending and I noticed a few ways that I could be saving more each week.  I hope these lessons that I had to learn the hard way will help you out too – we could all use a few extra bucks each week, right?!?!

Create a weekly meal plan.

Then create your grocery list around that plan.  You have no idea how many unnecessary purchases have been avoided for me using my grocery list.  I go in with a plan, and I stick to it.  It’s not as laborious as it seems, I promise!  What I usually do is pick 2-3 meals that I know I’m going to make and figure out what ingredients I’ll need to make them.  The rest of my list is focused on staples that I know can easily be paired with ingredients I already have on hand, or can be used to enhance leftovers from the week.  Not throwing in the extra bag of Doritos or the box of Oreos will add up to extra savings each and every week.

Purchase meat and produce when it’s on sale.

This is one of the hardest rules for me to follow.  I used to choose my meal plans based on what I felt like cooking that week.  If I wanted to make a pot roast, I made a pot roast.  Then I started noticing that if I waited a week or two, I could’ve purchased that roast for $0.99 less per pound because it went on sale.  Purchasing your meat (and even produce) only when it’s on sale could save you hundreds every year!  Now I wait till our grocery ads come out for the week on Wednesday to pick out recipes based on what will be on sale that week.

Shop at Walmart.

Seriously.  I always thought that the “Walmart Challenge” ads were a little cheesy.  You know the ones – where they show “real moms” comparing the prices from their regular grocery stores to prices at Walmart.  Cheesy as they may be, I recently found their claims to be true.  I did a little experiment this week where I shopped at my local grocery store, and then went to Walmart to price check those same items.  My research found that Walmart carried the lowest price almost every freakin’ time!  In some instances the price difference was minimal, like $0.12 or $0.13, but other times the disparity was a bit more substantial – like $0.98 on a single item!  The only time that Walmart was beat out by my local store was if the same item was on sale.  Crazy, right?  Now keep in mind that I don’t live in a land that honors double coupons, so this might not hold true in all markets.  But Walmart’s ad match policy is good enough for me because in that one instance where my local store’s price was cheaper, all I would’ve had to do was bring in the ad to have Walmart price match.

Saving extra cash each week can be difficult, but it’s not impossible!  Incorporating a few small changes can save big bucks in the long run – just enough for me to plan my next vacation!

Fond Memories Found in Greeting Cards

Disclosure: This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Hallmark and Latina Bloggers Connect. I was not asked to provide a particular point of view, and all opinions are 100% my own.

The other day I was going through my memory box (you all have one of those, right?) and found some cards I’ve received from friends and family over the years.  You gotta love the people that write the greetings, right?  All the things you’ve been feeling wrapped up into a nice, short verse.  How incredibly convenient!  So if you, or someone you know, is responsible for those heartfelt nuggets, I’d like to take this time to thank you for these:

“Thanks to you, Mom, I grew up knowing what love feels like, the difference it makes, the lengths it will go to, and the light it shines on all of life.”

“I don’t know who’s luckier, me having you for a sister or your kids having you for a mom.  But I do know this…you’re great at both.”

“Growing up is optional.  It’s your birthday – Be as young as you want!”

“Everyday, not just today, you are the most important part of my life.  I love you.”

There’s just something about receiving a greeting card that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  And you can totally tell when someone took their time to read the message the card is trying to convey, and when they just grabbed the closest one that said “Happy Birthday”.

New Huggies Diapers with SureFit Design and a $20 Dollar General Giveaway!

You may remember that awhile back we decided to put my son’s potty training on hold.  It hasn’t been easy, but we knew that he simply wasn’t ready.  Little did we know at the time that our decision would bring on a whole new set of problems.  He’s now a little over 31 months old and drinking a lot more fluids than he used to.  The weather’s nicer so he’s been spending a lot of time running around outside and is constantly asking for more water.  He drinks, and drinks, and drinks.  Suddenly we found that the store brand diapers we’ve been using just aren’t making the cut anymore.  He has woken up on plenty of occasions with his pajamas completely wet because his diapers can’t hold it all in anymore.  I knew that we likely had to switch diaper brands.

On a recent trip to Dollar General, I picked up a package of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers with the new SureFit* design (*exclusive waistband, new softer outer cover and less bulky more flexible absorbent pad).  I’ve been shopping at Dollar General more often lately (even though it’s a bit of a drive from my home) because their fantastic prices make it easy for me to save a bit of money, and that, coupled with coupons, makes for even bigger savings!  In fact, make sure you print this $2 off coupon to score a great deal on Huggies Snug & Dry diapers at your nearest Dollar General.

Huggies 12 Hour Leak Protection

I love the way these diapers hold up through the night.  The 12 hour leak protection was exactly what we were looking for.  No need for us to wash the sheets everyday…YAY!!!  My son loves them because he likes to pick the characters he gets to wear (his favorites are Mickey & Pluto) but I love the SureFit design.

To learn more about Huggies you can visit their website or like them on Facebook.

Creating Balance with #AngelSoft

If you are a parent, I don’t have to tell you that life is filled with and endless array of decisions.  Every day we make decisions that impact the lives of our families – financial decisions, medical decisions, household decisions, and everything in between.  No matter the outcome, each decision affects your family in some way.  As parents, we’re mostly looking for balance.  A remedy to a situation that is balanced on both ends.

Lately, my family has been trying to manage our money a little better.  We don’t like to say “we’re cutting corners”.  We like to think of our money situation as a way to improve our lives as a family in the long run, instead of focusing on our short-term cutbacks.  We like to purchase products at the lowest possible prices, without compromising on product quality.  And our wallets have been much happier for it.
